Hotel Update; the Parallel-Processing of Wedding Mode
A new hotel option! It's called, uh, the Nu Hotel. Check it out on the Coming to NYC page.

In other news, Jeannie and I went to a friend's wedding last night—and man, it was so different to be attending a wedding while in wedding-planning mode .
All night my head was sort of in a state of parallel-processing: Yes, I was truly enjoying myself and getting a huge kick out of Jeannie going nuts on the dance floor, but I was also constantly on high-alert, scrutinizing every choice made by the happy couple for possible applications to our very own event.
Jeannie confirmed later that she, too, was experiencing this. I was glad to know I wasn't alone. =) ♦
Update: Hotel Info; Airbnb Recommendation
For those interested in staying in downtown Brooklyn, today's your lucky day. We've added to the website info for the block of rooms at the Aloft Brooklyn, which is considerably closer to downtown Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the wedding venue than the Holiday Inn Express. Check it out.
That said, I actually would really recommend Airbnb if you aren't too squeamish about the idea of renting someone else's living space. There are a ton of places in Manhattan (it could be fun to stay in Manhattan and do more on your visit!) and a decent selection in Brooklyn too. Best of all, it's a much better deal than a hotel room and you get to "live like a New Yorker"—in a neighborhood, in a residential building, and in a tiny apartment. ♦
We Have a Date: September 13, 2013
And so, it has been decided. After weeks of thumb twiddling, hair pulling, navel gazing and hand wringing (all mostly on Chris's part), we have picked a date: Friday, September 13, 2013.
The venue? The Dumbo Loft, in Dumbo, Brooklyn.
It's going to be awesome! ♦
Indeed, the rumors are true.
We're engaged! And we are pretty excited to share our wedding with our friends and loved ones, without whom none of this could have happened.
Moments with every one of you—from quick text messages and surreptitious work-day chats to fun car trips and yummy, gut-busting dinners—have in their own small ways made us who we are, and made our relationship what it is. So we are grateful.
Anyway, bookmark us, or add our blog to your feed reader if that's how you roll, and stay updated on our plans! ♦
